Ruben Diaz Jr. toured Burnside Avenue along with Mayor Bill de Blasio and other Bronx

Bronx Borough Ruben Diaz Jr. toured Burnside Avenue along with Mayor Bill de Blasio and other Bronx elected officials to inspect the damage left in the wake of the looting that occurred on Fordham Road.

The tour, which included talking with entrepreneurs to assess their needs to help rebuild their businesses, resulted in the creation of the Small Business Emergency Grant Program, which will help small businesses with recovery, including repairs, security systems, locks, and more.

Grant money will go to Bronx small businesses impacted by looting and experienced damage to their storefronts. Businesses can apply for up to $10,000 per business.

The Mayor’s Fund to Advance New York City will work with Small Business Services to assess the level of need throughout the city, with the intent to raise funds for repairs of businesses in other boroughs. SOMOS Community Care has provided $500,000 in initial funds for the program.
