PUERTO RICO NEEDS OUR PRAYERS

You should know that it is very sad to learn that the political turmoil in my beloved Puerto Rico has turned violent as demonstrations against the local government there continues to intensify.

My fervent hope and prayer, especially in light of the destruction that was done to the island by Hurricane Maria and the fact that Puerto Rico has not yet recuperated from that devastation, that no groups or individuals will cause further damage to any property during the protests or rallies in Puerto Rico, no matter how passionate any demonstrator might feel.

Since one of Puerto Rico’s primary sources of revenue is tourism, our beautiful PUERTO RICO NEEDS OUR PRAYERS

Since one of Puerto Rico’s primary sources of revenue is tourism, our beautiful resorts, and tropical regions attract visitors to return year after year, rioting in the streets will have long-term damage not only to the economy but to how the world views us as a people.

You should already know that I was born and raised in Bayamón, Puerto Rico, and my heart has been, is now, and will always be with the people in Puerto Rico.

It is important for those organizing demonstration in Puerto Rico to be sure that vandalism to private properties, stores, vehicles, etc, etc, are protected. I am a concern that there may be some opportunist that would take advantage of looting and committing regrettable acts that would shame Puerto Rico.

My dear reader, Puerto Rico’s future remains in my prayers, and I trust it will also remain in yours.

I am Reverend Rubén Díaz, Sr. and this is what you should know.
