Ms. Lewis is celebrated as an accomplished health care administrator, who has made significant changes to NYC Health + Hospitals/Gotham Health’s strategic direction. From improving the patient experience to increasing access to care on a timely basis, Lewis has provided direction and coordination for a broad range of initiatives to advance NYC Health + Hospitals/Gotham Health’s organizational success. Michelle Lewis has over 20 years of experience in leading people, building teams, project management, and expanding health care programs. Prior to joining NYC Health + Hospitals, Ms. Lewis worked for New York Presbyterian Health Systems, where she held various positions, including overseeing the Emergency Services Department and the community-based Ambulatory Care Health Center. Her strong interest in delivering high-quality health care services and supporting the overall well-being of medically-underserved communities is reflected in her achievements during her career as a public health executive. Ms. Lewis collaborated with New York City partners to expeditiously build three state-of-the-art Ambulatory Care Centers over a period of eighteen months to serve communities in Brooklyn, Queens, and the Bronx. These new clinics provide much needed primary and specialty care for those suffering from chronic conditions in those communities. Ms. Lewis received her Bachelor of Arts Degree from Lehman College in New York, and her Master’s degree in Public Administration from Farleigh Dickinson University in New Jersey. She is presently an adjunct professor at Fairleigh Dickinson University in the Master in Public Administration and Master in Public Health departments.
