New York, NY – This morning, Congressman Adriano Espaillat (NY-13) announced his support for tenants’ rights attorney Shaun Abreu in the race for New York City Council, District 7.
“I am thrilled to have Congressman Adriano Espaillat’s endorsement. As the first Dominican-American Member of Congress, Congressman Espaillat has inspired and shown us what’s possible for our community — that story is our story, too. Congressman Espaillat has been a fierce advocate for us in Congress, and I look forward to working hand in glove with him on issues surrounding affordable housing, funding for afterschool programs, and always using our platform to fight for the people we have the privilege to call our neighbors,” said Shaun Abreu.
“Pride is an understatement for how I feel about Shaun Abreu’s candidacy. I first met him when there was a stabbing at his high school in Washington Heights, and Shaun made it a point to show up and advocate on behalf of his school and classmates. I saw in him then, what I see in him now, an urgent desire to fight for those who need the most and are being left behind. His resilience in the face of the trials and tribulations throughout his life prove to me that he’s ready to go to battle for each and every person in District 7. It is with great joy that I endorse Shaun Abreu for New York City Council, District 7,” said Congressman Adriano Espaillat (NY-13)
Shaun Abreu is a tenants rights’ attorney and advocate for workers and families. City Council District 7 covers Manhattanville, Manhattan Valley, Morningside Heights, Hamilton Heights, and portions of the Upper West Side, West Harlem, and Washington Heights.
