Happy Earth Day! While COVID-19 has dominated the headlines because of its global impact on our world, it is also important to recognize and celebrate the 50th Anniversary of Earth Day. The first Earth Day occurred in the 1970`s to address an environmental crisis that was affecting our quality of life. Communities took to the streets demanding action from legislators and advocating for environmental justice. Through their activism, significant changes were made to laws around the world. We must continue to recognize their heroism and the need to support environmental reform by not only celebrating Earth Day, but by also advocating for further environmental protections amid the COVID-19 crisis.
Tonight`s newsletter will highlight the passing of our beloved community member, Raymond Brunson, a Tenant Association president and pillar of our community. There is also information on new testing sites in the Bronx, upcoming virtual events, and much more.
